Millsfly and The Silver Bow Fly Shop Present...Low and Clear

February 19th, you have plans.

The Millsfly and Silver Bow Fly Shop's 2nd Annual Film Benefit for the Wild Steelhead Coalition is on again and this year's film looks amazing

Low and Clear's trailer hit the Fly Fishing Film tour in 2011 and I knew this was going to be a special film.  After a successful kickstarter campaign to get the distribution in order, the film is out and I have heard nothing but glowing reviews.

More than fish porn, it tells a very unique story that applies to more than just fishing.





This year's event will again be at the Lincoln Center of Spokane.  Great parking, great viewing space and a full bar will be available.

And the real reason you're coming.  The gigantic schwag pile that is growing by the day

Waders, Boots, Hand Painted Artwork, Rods, Reels, Guided Trips (lots), Shirts, Stickers....on and on and on.  In the first week I have been amazed at the industries willingness to help. 

The money raised will go to the Wild Steelhead Coalition with funds specifically designated to East of the Cascades work on salmon and steelhead restoration. 

Last year we netted over $2,000 in our showing of Confluence Films' Connect. 

I have no reason why we cant make it more this year....but you need to be there to make it happen!

Nymph-Aid...Stickers for Bugs

Recently, a large part of my trout fishing arsenal flew the coup.  My prized trout nymph box filled with about 150 flies fell into the drink on the Spokane River and disappeared.

Which leads me to a great offer I shall throw out there.

Last winter, the great folks at The Wild Steelhead Coalition  and Save Bristol Bay hooked us up with a great deal of stickers for our Connect Film premier....

And when I say hooked up, I gave up out a couple hundred at the event and still have a ton left.  In the effort to get more of these stickers out there on cars, trucks, boats, rafts, trailers....whatever you may have, here's my offer

I need to restock my nymph box quickly.

You want these three stickers.

There's no minimum, there's no maximum.  Send me flies, you get a set of these babies to rock wherever you damn well please.
The main point of this, aside of the flies, is to strongly urge you to join the Wild Steelhead Coalition  and find a way you can help with the Bristol Bay fight against the Pebble Mine.  Both groups are doing tremendous work and need all the help you can offer.  I promise you this, you wont be turned down if you want to get involved

Aside from a volcanic eruption and the birth of your first born child, I don't see any other viable excuses why you wouldnt come out tomorrow and help us raise a bunch of money for the Wild Steelhead Coalition.

Monday's a pretty big day.

Wonder why our returns have been so good in recent years in comparison to historical averages?  Judges have ruled that it's a pretty good idea to let a river like the Columbia to behave like, whaddayah know...a river.  Spring time flushing of smolt downstream have helped immensely in getting the little guys down the gauntlet of dams on their way to the salt.

Monday, May 9th, a federal court in Portland, OR is going to rule on the Obama administrations recycling of the previous admin's Biological Opinion in setting salmon protection and restoration policy for the Columbia and Snake River Basins.

If you remember correctly....it's not the most sound policy.

If you like Salmon and or Steelhead, get off you boot and get involved.  Take your time and go to the Wild Salmon Coalition web site and figure out what you can do.   Trust me, they'll put you to work.
